Steven Sloan
Biography
Steven Sloan was born and raised in Pasadena California his favorite hang out is old town where he loves to rummage through yesterdays' albums in record stores. This is probably due to his Radio Announcer days in the 80s. Steven’s first film as an actor was in 1964, in which he played a minor roll as a young boy against the world, in an independent film titled, ‘King of the Hill’. Steven found a love for filmmaking and purchased a Super 8mm movie camera and projector. His fascination with filmmaking also led him to purchase silent films from Disneyland and in an effort to hear sound in the films, Steve played the voices of all the characters playing background music on a toy organ manually synchronizing his audio recording with the film.
In 1975, Steven’s filmmaking hobby skills placed him in charge of the Denver Fire Departments' Video Unit. That experience in filming fire situations opened the door to work side by side with the Denver Police Department producing training films.
In 1998, Steven became employed as an Audio-Visual Technician for the LAPD. During this tenure, Steven wrote, directed and produced training films for new recruits and veteran officers. Steven began to mix his own musical compositions with the training films enhancing them with voice-over. Studying several different styles of acting he landed numerous leading rolls in community theatre stage productions which lead to his becoming the acting coach for the Los Angles Police Department training police officers in dramatic acting on camera.
In 2004, Steven founded Fountain of Life Productions, Inc., which affords him the opportunity to continue to write and produce his own materials. Steven since has become well known for his out-of-the-box style, using visual and sound effects on stage, always with an element of surprise to delight his audience mixing film projection with his stage plays.
Steve’s hunger to act and produce only grew stronger with the changing trend of technology as he attended television production classes at San Bernardino Valley College, Pasadena City College, and the Art Institute in Santa Monica. Coupled with his drive to enhance his skills, Steve spent his Saturday’s teaching acting and film production to students at John Robert Powers School of Acting in Ontario, CA.
Steven has produced over 25 plays for Community Theaters and his writing skills only increases as he continues to produce his own films and plays. Steven now aspires to take his plays on the road visiting various cities and eventually producing feature films for cinema theaters around the world.
